Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of LangClip, including the website at app.langclip.com and the LangClip Chrome extension (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or installing the extension, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area) to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement, and that you have legal capacity to enter into this agreement in your jurisdiction.

• You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials and any connected browser secure.
• You may not share your account with others, or use one account to provide the Service to multiple people.
• You may not create more than one account to circumvent quota limits or evade a suspension.
• You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may retain a minimal record (email and prior trial usage count) for up to 30 days after deletion as described in our Privacy Policy.

4.1 Trial plan

New accounts start on a free trial plan with a lifetime cap on AI-powered analyses (currently 50). Saved phrases on the trial plan are automatically deleted 30 days after they are saved.

4.2 Plus plan

The Plus plan is billed monthly or annually through Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy is responsible for charging your payment method, handling taxes, and issuing receipts. By subscribing you authorize Lemon Squeezy to bill the recurring amount until you cancel.

4.3 Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from Settings → Manage subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Plus features until then. We do not pro-rate partial periods.

4.4 Refunds

Outside of statutory consumer-protection rights (for example, the 14-day EU withdrawal right) we do not offer refunds for partial-period cancellations or unused quota. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@langclip.com within 30 days of the charge.

4.5 Price changes

We may change pricing for future billing periods. We will email you at least 30 days before any increase takes effect on your subscription, and you may cancel before the new price applies.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law, infringe anyone's intellectual property, or facilitate illegal conduct.
• Submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or sexually explicit involving minors.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service, except where this is permitted by law.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or interfere with its availability for other users.
• Use automated means (bots, scripts, scrapers) to interact with the Service except via the documented extension or APIs we publish.
• Resell or sublicense the Service or its outputs as a competing translation or language-learning product.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice.

The Service uses third-party large language models (currently OpenAI) to produce translations, vocabulary breakdowns, grammar notes, and example sentences. AI output can be incorrect, incomplete, biased, or inappropriate in context. You are responsible for evaluating AI output before relying on it, especially for professional, academic, or safety-critical purposes.

You retain ownership of the phrases you choose to save. To the extent the AI output qualifies for copyright, we assign you a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use the output associated with your account for any lawful purpose.

Phrases you save and any notes you add to flashcards remain yours. You grant LangClip a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display that content for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not use your saved phrases to train AI models, and we do not sell or share them with third parties except the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy.

The Service interacts with YouTube subtitles. YouTube's terms and copyright policies continue to apply to that content; you are responsible for respecting the rights of subtitle authors and channel owners. We do not download or redistribute videos themselves.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes that adversely affect paying users. The Service is provided on an “as-is” basis and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that AI output will meet your specific needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, revenue, or goodwill, even if advised of the possibility.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death/personal injury caused by negligence).

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LangClip and its operators against any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party right.

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if continued provision becomes commercially unviable. On termination, sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability caps, governing law) will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be set before launch], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under or relating to these Terms, except where applicable consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will email signed-in users at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
